Apple has revealed that it sold a record number of iPhones in the three months from October to December 2015. However, the 74.779 million units sold compares to 74.468 million in the same period in 2014, suggesting iPhone demand has plateaued.

More importantly, Apple has predicted that overall revenue will fall in the current quarter. With the iPhone making up a colossal 68% of all the company’s earnings, that points to iPhone sales sliding for the first time since the original version of the smartphone was launched nine years ago this month.

In a statement, Apple said it expected revenue to be between $50 and $53 billion between January and March, down from $58 billion in the first quarter of 2015.

Apple’s Chief Financial Officer, Luca Maestri, told investors during a conference call that he expected that, “iPhone units will decline in the quarter”.

The news has seen Apple’s share price slide by 2.7%, despite the fact that the results represent Apple’s best ever.

Barclays, the last of the UK’s major banks not to offer Apple Pay, will rollout the service to its customers by April at the latest.

The bank’s CEO, Ashok Vaswani, personally emailed customer Oli Foster-Burnell to say that the service would be available within 60 to 75 days. It has been speculated that it could launch on March 28th.

Vaswani said that Barclays will "launch Apple Pay, as committed, within the next 60 to 75 days".

Last year, the bank said it would make Apple Pay available early in 2016. Its failure to deliver the service alongside the likes of Halifax, Natwest and HSBC has left some customers so irate that they have changed banks.

Apple Pay launched in the UK in June. Since then its growing popularity and the boom in contactless payments has forced Barclays’ hand, despite the bank offering its own bPay platform, which has so far failed to gain mainstream traction.

Motorola's landgrab for the budget Android phone market started brilliantly back in 2013 with the well reviewed, huge-selling original Moto G.

However, last year's model wasn't quite so well received, largely due to the omission of 4G support.

That seemed a bit churlish to us given how much phone you were getting for your money. Although we can see why it irked some people.

So what’s the deal with the 2015 Moto G that was unveiled earlier this week? Has Motorola taken that criticism on board? Is the Moto G still a strong contender for the best budget phone around? We went hands-on with the handset at the launch event to find out.

New Telugu boothu kathalu- Sowmya Tho

Motorola’s 2015 portfolio of smartphones debuted this week, with the unveiling of the Moto G budget phone (you can watch that hands on video here: Moto G video hands on) and two fresh takes on the Moto X: the Moto X Play and the Moto X Style.

The Moto X Play comes over like a tough phone with a water-resistant design, which it teams with 48-hour battery life, a 21-megapixel camera and an edge-to-edge 5.5-inch screen.

The Moto X Style packs the same 21-megapixel camera, but is a handset with an accent on, ahem, style and with the option for extensive customisation with the Moto Maker service.

It’s also home to a 5.7-inch edge-to-edge display. And for selfies, there’s a front-facing five-megapixel camera with a wide-angle lens.

Fancy a closer look at them? Check our hands-on videos and let us know what you make of Moto’s contenders in the comments section below.

More iPhone 6S parts have leaked online, as the rumour mill whirs into full gear ahead of the device’s release this autumn.

Once again, French site Nowhereelse has got the skinny, with images of the device’s single flex cable. This houses the phone’s flash, mute, power and volume controls and marks a change from the split control component seen on last year’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Apple also seems to be sticking with its protruding camera lens if another leaked pic proves correct. This will most likely leave some users less than happy after complaints of not being able to lay 2014’s device flat thanks to the beefed up snapper.

With Apple expected to keep the same design as last year for its iPhone 6S, few component leaks are expected to cause much of a stir in 2015.

The company is said to be plotting the addition of an all–new camera system and Force Touch tech, something already found on the Apple Watch and the latest MacBook.

Apple’s next-generation smartphone, ahead of its anticipated debut in September.

Sourced by @OnLeaks, AKA Steve Hemmerstoffer of Nowwhereelse.fr, on behalf of uSwitch, the images are so-called 'CAD design renders' which are sent by Apple to third-party case manufacturers ahead of the release of new phones. The accessory-makers can then use the designs to manufacture cases that are compatible.

You can see our entire trove of iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus images in the gallery at the foot of the page.

The big reveal from this set of renders is that they add more weight to rumours that the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will be thicker than their predecessors.

It's thought this is to avoid a repeat of criticism that last year’s model wasn’t as robust as it should’ve been and bent in users’ pockets.

While the iPhone 6 came in at 6.9mm thick, the iPhone 6S is 7.1mm, according to our source.

The iPhone 6S Plus, which was the model most often cited in the so-called 'bendgate' scandal, has also been body-building. It’s gone from 7.1mm thick to 7.3mm, we were told.

Intriguingly, it also appears that the protruding camera that featured on the iPhone 6 could be missing from the iPhone 6S but will reappear on the iPhone 6S Plus.

This possibility stems from the 6S Plus renders, which outline that it's 7.8mm thick.

Apple is working on launching its own mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), with the California company already testing the service in the United States. That’s the word from ‘sources close to
Apple’ who've shared the plans with Business Insider.

What’s more, Apple is said to be in talks with European networks about launching on this side of the Atlantic too.

The sources claim that such a network will allow users to buy a monthly contract directly from Apple, with a connected iPhone using an Apple SIM capable of switching between networks in order to offer the best signal.

However, don’t expect Apple to launch its MVNO alongside the iPhone 6S next month. Word is it’s looking long term with this project, with a five year timeframe mooted for a full launch.

Apple already offers its own SIM for its iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3, allowing users to switch between data contracts without having to change SIM cards when they do so.

The news comes as stories emerge about plans for an iCloud Voicemail service which will transcribe messages using Siri. Such a tool would play neatly into an Apple MVNO, cutting out the need for consumers to access their voicemails via their network and allowing Apple to control the entire smartphone ecosystem.

Apple is testing a new service which could bring an end to calling outdated voicemail services in order to access messages.

iCloud Voicemail will work with Siri in order to take calls when you can’t, rather than letting the phone ring out to your network’s own recorded message.

Siri will then be able to tell a caller why you’re unavailable and take a message. This message will then be transcribed and sent to you as an iMessage or SMS.

It could mean never having to go through multiple press button options in order to hear messages that are either unimportant or so sold that they no longer require action.

According to Business Insider, ‘multiple Apple employees’ are using the service already, with plans to launch in 2016. With Siri already getting a major upgrade as part of iOS 9, it seems this could form a key part of next year’s iOS upgrade.

As stories emerge about plans for an Apple MVNO, iCloud Voicemail makes a lot of sense. If Apple is able to completely control voice messages, there will be no need for users to interact with their network, allowing it to launch its own service that can piggyback off multiple carriers.

Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE), the company which makes Apple’s system–in–packaging for its smartwatch, apparently told investors that it had failed to reach break–even volume of two million units from April to June.

Neither is it expecting to do so between July and September, when Apple could be expected to up production to ensure ample stock before Christmas.

In other words, demand is nowhere near what everyone thought it would be. Analysts are scrambling to lower predictions of global sales down.

Some had initially believed Apple would sell up to 36 million in its first year. That seems fanciful in the extreme now.

Of course, ASE is just one supplier. But it tells a story of just how a product that everyone assumed would be huge from the get go just isn’t connecting with the public.

Yes, it’s the leading smartwatch. But rival products have hardly covered themselves in glory. Android Wear remains clunky and Pebble is a cool, but niche piece of kit.

Perhaps the next generation will enthral consumers more. Or perhaps it’s time to start wondering whether smartwatches really are the future.

A handy, but ultimately non–essential accessory that only true tech obsessives will take to.

If Apple won’t release official figures, it’s no surprise that conclusions like this will be made, and increasingly so.

New Telugu boothu kathalu (Haa ra Kammu)

when Apple revealed its quarterly results last month, its failure to offer an exact figure for sales of its Apple Watch wasn’t greeted with surprise.

Everyone knew Apple was going to keep stats under wraps when it came to its newest product, despite revealing sales for categories such as the iPhone and iPad with fierce pride when they first debuted.

The reason? Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, told investors on a conference call that he didn’t want to give competition, “...insight [on] a product we’ve worked really hard on.”

He then went on to talk about how the watch had “exceeded expectations”.

Apple’s Chief Financial Officer, Luca Maestri, made it clear that revenue from the watch was in excess of the $952 million profit Apple made in the ‘Other Products’ category in which it includes the Apple Watch (alongside iPods, Apple TV and accessories

Cook and Maestri were essentially rebutting reports which emerged throughout June suggesting the Apple Watch wasn’t doing nearly as well as had been forecast.

One market research firm reckoned sales had slipped by as much as 90% since the device’s first week on sale.

Apple must have thought it had put this story to bed, despite the fact that not offering stats is not something it’s ever done before for a major product category.

Wall Street wasn’t happy and the company’s share price duly fell.

Now, a new report once again suggests that things are really not going well for the Apple Watch.

New images of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 have leaked, less than two weeks before the handset is due to get its official unveiling at an event in New York.

The phone appears to take its cue from the Galaxy S6, with a scaled up frame and screen that looks as if it will come in around the 5.7–inch mark.

Samsung’s S–Pen has been squeezed in, with the spring–loaded stylus accessible from the bottom of the handset. There’s a neat new curved design round the back to make this larger handset easier to hold too.

Interestingly, Samsung appears to have ditched the popular microSD slot from the Galaxy Note range, much as it did with the Galaxy S6. That’s likely to infuriate long time fans.

Specs–wise, RAM is set to come in at 4GB, with 32, 64 and 128GB storage options available. The battery will be a non–removable 3000aMh effort.

USB is the charging port of choice, but not the futuristic USB-C which has already been seen on the excellent One Plus 2.

The Galaxy Note 5 is set to make its debut alongside a beefed up Galaxy S6 Edge+. Samsung needs both devices to sell well, after poor quarterly sales figures from April to June.

It  looks like Apple could be the latest big name in tech to get into the mobile network business.

A new report claims that the Cupertino company is already trying out such a service in the U.S. and could soon be giving things a go in Europe too.

So, what do we know so far? Will it be the latest move towards MVNOs becoming go–to options over the soon–to–be big three networks?

Read on and we’ll tell you everything you need to know.

The idea behind an Apple MVNO is simple. Cupertino will offer a so–called Apple SIM, which users will be able to pick up when they buy an iPhone.

This would then offer consumers the chance to connect to an Apple–backed network and purchase contracts and data bundles directly from their phones, essentially cutting out the networks for good.

The sources who have revealed Apple’s plans have suggested this will be a huge operation, using multiple networks.

MVNOs tend to utilise one particular network, with BT using EE and Tesco using O2 for example.

Apple is apparently in talks with major networks across America and Europe about a service which would let them work with everyone.

That would mean users would hop seamlessly from one network to the next on an Apple MVNO, depending on which carrier offered the best signal.

Apple was obviously keen to talk up the many skills of the iPhone 6S last night, but one thing it didn't mention was battery power. However, it inadvertently let slip the details in its own video.

The promo video for the 6S features the battery clearly marked 1,715mAh. That's a slightly lower capacity than the 1,810mAh battery in the iPhone 6.

Despite this smaller battery, Apple claims the 6S will last just as long as its predecessor.

On paper that means it'll provide 14 hours of talk time on 3G, up to 10 hours internet use on 3G or LTE and 11 hours on Wi-Fi, 11 hours of HD video playback, 5 hours of audio playback and 10 days of standby time.

Apple doesn't provide details of the batteries used in its iPhones, but the numerous teardowns reveal all the details.

The A9 chip and iOS 9 should also make the 6S run more efficiently than the 6, so the smaller battery shouldn't make any difference to performance.

The 6S and 6S Plus feature Live Videos, which add a second and a half of animations either side of when you pressed the shutter to take a photo.

They both also have always-on Siri, so you can just say "Hey Siri" and it'll respond. You had to plug in previous iPhones to do so, or open the Siri app first.

Adobe has revealed that the newly announced iPad Pro will feature 4GB of RAM, twice as much as that found in the current top–of–the–range iPad Air 2.

The news came via a press release from the Photoshop-maker, which took to the stage at Apple’s San Francisco event on Wednesday to show off its software working on the new, 12-inch iPad.

iPad Pro is great for creative workflows with a high-res 12.9-inch touch screen display at 2732 x 2048 pixels, A9X chip, and 4GB RAM,” the release states.

Apple makes a point of not officially revealing the RAM of its iPad range, although tech fanatics often teardown the devices in the days after launch, revealing such key details.

Since the release was first put out, Adobe has removed reference to the 4GB figure, although this is likely to have been at Apple’s request.

The iPad Pro is set to go on sale in November. US pricing is due to start at $799 for a 32GB model, although UK prices have yet to be revealed.

Apple’s much anticipated iPhone 5SE could launch as soon as March 15th. That’s the word from sources speaking anonymously with 9to5mac.

While that date could shift, it seems Apple is tentatively planning to invite media to an event which will see the launch of the updated 4–inch iPhone, alongside the new iPad Air 3 and a series of fresh Apple Watch accessories.

The iPhone 5SE will unquestionably be the biggest story of the day. It’s said to come with similar internal specs to the iPhone 6s, including a fast A9 chipset and support for Live Photos.

However, its design is thought to be very much along the same lines as 2013’s iPhone 5s, if a little slimmer and more rounded.

Insiders have suggested it will cost the same as the iPhone 5s. That device starts at £379 SIM–free.

The iPad Air 3 has featured heavily in rumours in recent weeks, with the updated tablet thought to come with an LED flash and a quad–speaker system.

The event will not, however, see Apple fully update its smartwatch. Instead, the Apple Watch is likely to receive a string of new accessories, including updated bands.

In a bid to capture 12-year low oil prices, the government today exempted crude oil imported for storage in strategic reserves from payment of interest on unpaid customs duty. India is building three
underground storages at Mangalore and Vizag for use in contingencies like supply disruptions and abnormal spike in oil prices. The government wants these to be filled when oil prices are trading at around USD 35 per barrel. The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) issued a notification exempting the oil imported for storage at the strategic reserves from payment of interest on unpaid customs duty.

"The CBEC, being satisfied that it is necessary so to do in the public interest, hereby specifies... crude imported and stored in underground rock caverns, in respect of which no interest shall be charged under the said Section 61," it said in a notification.

The underground storages at Visakhapatnam, Mangalore and Padur will store about 5.33 million tonnes of crude oil. Visakhapatnam facility has a capacity to store 1.33 million tons of crude oil in underground rock caverns. Huge underground cavities, almost ten storey tall and approximately 3.3 km long have been built to stock oil. A similar facility in Mangalore has a capacity of 1.55 million tons while the Padur has capacity of 2.5-million tons.

Google has confirmed that the annual I/O conference will take place from May 18th to 20th at its Mountain View campus in California.

It’s the tenth such event and is aimed at Android developers looking to learn about the latest Google software developments.

Think of it as Google's version of Apple's WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference), which is marked by the unveiling of major new versions of its iOS software, and you're there.

Google is likely to reveal plans for a string of new software products, in particular 2016’s version of its mobile operating system.

Tentatively dubbed Android N, this will be the successor to Android Marshmallow, which began its slow rollout to compatible phones late last year.

Other features set to be revealed include the Big G’s latest Virtual Reality tools and updates to its Android Wear wearables programme.

Google may also look to further address the increasingly fragmented nature of its operating system. Android remains broken up into various versions, with mobile makers unwilling or unable to update older products to the newest software.

Apple has moved to clear up lingering confusion surrounding its Wi–Fi Assist tool, which uses mobile data when a wireless connection becomes slow or unstable.

Until now, users were unclear how much data was being used when the service automatically switched on.

Now, as part of its on-trial iOS 9.3 update, Apple shows an exact figure in the Settings app next to the Wi–Fi Assist on/off toggle.

Wi–Fi Assist formed a key part of iOS 9, but Apple came in for criticism for not making it clear that the automatic tool would eat into users’ data allowance.

In the US the company is facing a $5 million class action lawsuits from customers who say they were hit with additional charges due to Apple failing to properly explain the feature.

For its part, Apple has always maintained that Wi–Fi Assist only ever uses a small amount of data and that it can be switched off at any time by users worried about escalating bills.

The Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is Apple's annual jamboree where it shows off what it's been working on over the last 12 months. And now we have a potential date for it.

Mac Rumors has looked into the schedule of Apple's favourite venue for the event, the Moscone West convention centre in San Francisco. While June is looking pretty full, there's one week that's still vacant – the 13-17th.

The conference hall details what else is happening around that week, including a Travel Association Luncheon, a Biotechnology Industry Organisation conference, and the Red Hat Summit. But the third week is conspicuously empty.

Either it's not at liberty to say Apple has booked it until Apple announces the date itself, or Apple is leaving it a little late to reserve the space. We're guessing it's the former.

Apple has held WWDC every year since 2007. It's always in June and always at Moscone West.

The firm is expected to show off iOS 10 (the next iteration of its mobile operating system) and possibly OS X 10.12, which would be its next desktop operating system.

WWDC would come weeks after Google's I/O conference, which is the Android maker's equivalent. Google I/O is set for May 18-20th.

Like WWDC, it will be a software-focussed event, with Google showing off Android N, the next version of its mobile operating system.

Apple already has a Voice Memos app, which comes in very handy for noting down those Alan Partridge-style "Idea for a program" thoughts. But now it's released a music-specific version called Music Memos for the musos among you.

Say you wake up with a particular refrain in your head. Just fire up the app and you can record any instrument in uncompressed audio.

Winningly, the app detects the rhythm of piano and acoustic guitar, and lays down some virtual drums and bass so you'll know how it'd sound done with a full arrangement. Nice.

Everything you record syncs to iCloud, and is accessible using GarageBand or Logic Pro X.

You can even share your songs with fans using an Apple Music Connect account. So you'd better start getting some fans.

Apple has also updated GarageBand, adding the virtual drummer from the Mac version. And it's been tweaked for the iPad Pro and now supports 3D Touch on the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. Music to our ears.

It's been a busy day for Apple. Today it announced it's opening Europe's first iOS App Development Centre in Italy, where students will be trained in developing apps for the platform. If you're interested, head to Naples.

Apple plans to open similar institutions in other countries too, so there may well be a British one. Stay tuned.
